An interview with Marilyn Armand of Le Point Visible

I had the great pleasure of chatting with Marilyn Armand of Le Point Visible, this week’s guest on my Soulful Couture podcast. Marilyn is not only a talented artist who creates gorgeous quilted designs and home accessories, but she’s passionate about ecology, thrifting, and making people happy through her work. She’s a woman after my own heart.

During our conversation, I discovered a woman who comes from a long line of quilters: she learned the traditional québécois craft from her grandmother and seamstress aunts and remains passionate about passing down her know-how with a smile. It was thanks to quilting specialist France Verrier, of the Women Farmers Circle of Cowansville, Quebec, that Marilyn rediscovered the practice from edges of the history of women in Quebec.

We both live in the same region and I discovered Marilyn’s work via The Maison Simons website, while browsing their locally made section, Fabrique 1840, an concept which features local artisans. My eye was immediately drawn to the colors, textures and fabrics of Marilyn’s designs.

I love the patterns and colours in the cushions above. As for her stunning quilts, they’re simply fabulous and tell a great story. One of the things that caught my eye on her website was the fact that Marilyn creates made-to-measure quilts according to her clients’ own inspirations, specifications, interests, and passions! You can share your ideas with her and she will provide suggestions via her own Pinterest board.

What I love most? Marilyn shares the stories behind these quilts on her website! You’ll notice the big smiles and happy & satisfied customers in all of the pictures. Creating happiness is a big part of her brand and I’m very much into that!

Loving that big smile!

Marilyn is not only passionate about creating her own designs, she’s equally passionate about collaborating with like-minded companies and designers. She finds the recycled padding for her quilts from a local industrial company and collaborates with Quebec fashion designer Odeyalo, for pieces made from the scraps of its latest collection.

And if by any chance you need to replenish your face masks, she makes some of those too…
