An interview with Marie-Geneviève Cyr, a key player in the world of fashion

When I think of women fully embodying their own power, being their own truth, and being fully connected with their true essence and talents, I think of Marie-Geneviève Cyr, a key player in the world of fashion, creativity, sustainability and eco-fashion. This Quebec dynamo from the Gaspésie region knows her stuff: about fashion, culture, travel and art.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working alongside with Marie-Geneviève when I worked with Yves Jean Lacasse, a Montreal based designer.  We had fun creating and building but what I discovered is in Marie-Geneviève, is one of the most talented and passionate women I know. I am very fond of her , her work and the fact that she too, loves pink.
She totally lives in the flow, something I’m super passionate about and have discussed at length on this blog in this post here entitled how to live a more flow based life.

Marie-Geneviève Cyr is an assistant professor in the Fashion Design program at Parsons School of Design in New York. She has an MA from New York University, a BA in Design and Applied Arts from the Edinburgh College of Art and a degree in Fashion Design from the College Marie-Victorin.  She was also a participant in the hit show Project Runway Canada and worked for celebrated designers including Zac Posen, Yves Jean Lacasse and Denis Gagnon.
She has also worked on an installation series about hyper-consumption using discarded billboards. Her work is truly inspiring and I do hope that she will eventually turn this exhibition and installation into a future collection. That would be a dream!
Marie-Geneviève has a firm opinions about fashion weeks, the future of the industry and where it all going. One of the things I admire most about her is that she spends a lot os time teaching in Asia, helping young designers bring out their true passions and talents. She also shares some of her tips to those wanting to break out in the industry.
She has lots to say, so do listen in on the podcast.
